Wednesday Words

GOING HOME:
Boy, do we miss our house! At least we will get to see it for a day next week! :o) (Btw - this picture was taken before we landscaped and took out the "builder basic plants".)  It looks so much nicer now and also has fruit trees down the other side of the house that should be producing a lot of fruit now after 5 years of fruitation.

Two days and counting....*sigh*

Happy Hump Day my friends! :o)

Why Is It That....

Happy Tuesday my friends! I am stealing borrowed this idea from Vodka over at Vodka Logic today as I thought it was a great idea for a post and well.... since I didn't have anything in mind offhand - I decided to give it a go myself.  No worries though - I asked her first and though I didn't wait for her response - I'm SURE she doesn't really mind - do you, Vodka?! hee hee hee

Why is it that.........

You don't realize there is no toilet paper until you sit down.  (totally stolen borrowed from Vodka)

You get off work early and can actually cook a nice dinner when you remember that everything is frozen.

Your two teenagers are so good for a whole week only to turn around and be mouthy little turkeys the next.

Mother nature teases you with 70 degrees and sunshine for a couple of days in a row, only to give you 40's and rain the following week.

You hit the BIG 40 and find that you have to get glasses and after wearing them for a few months realize that you can now see better without the glasses.

You go on a diet and exercise regimen and lose 11 pounds only to find that 5 of those have found their way back to you through the last couple of weeks. *sigh*

You wait and wait and wait for your vacation and it finally gets here only to realize it is going to be over before you know it. :o(

That's all I can think of for now- do you have anymore to add to it? I hope all of you have a very wonderful and beautiful day today.  It is supposed to be a torrential downpour here again today.  YUCK! I hated even getting out of bed and had a hard time doing so again this morning.  This weather just makes me want to hibernate and sleep all day.

Lots of love and hugs,

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday my peeps!  How the heck are you?  How was your weekend?  Do anything fun?  We did a lot of getting things ready for our upcoming vacation mainly.  On Friday night my daughter went to a Sweet 16 party and then I went to some friends house and hung out for a while.  On Saturday morning it started out with me having a mammogram and a bone density test which was NOT fun to say the least.  At least the bone density test was only an x-ray - sheesh! :o(  Then I came home and began working on things around the house - figuring up our checkbook, painting some eggs and reworking some of my Spring and Easter decorations and that sort of thing.  Then we hung out for the night and just relaxed.  Yesterday morning, the hubster had to go to work all day and me and the kiddos got up and started working on things around the house - laundry, cleaning, packing, that sort of thing.  I worked non-stop from 9:30 a.m. until 5:00 without sitting down.  I was on a roll and was cleaning out and organizing my bedroom closet, my dresser, and even my bathroom closet.  I donated and threw away so.much.crap! Those three spaces look SO MUCH better now and I'm so glad I got it all done. :o)

Then about 5:00 my husby decided to rent the movie "The Blind Side" on On Demand and so we sat down, had dinner and watched the movie.  All I can say is - OMG!  If you have NOT seen this movie - RUN - don't walk and watch it! I promise you will NOT be disappointed and will truly enjoy it.  Tim McGraw and Sandra Bullock do such an awesome job in this movie that I can't believe we've waited til now to see it.  It is so heartwarming and makes me want to go and give Michael Ohr and the family that this movie is based on a HUGE HUG!  This family is truly a very Christian family and I am so proud for all of them and it shows how God means for all of us to live our lives.
This is the week we go on vacation and I.can't.wait!  Today I have to take off early to take my daughter to the doctor, then Tuesday and Wednesday are busy days and then our plan is to leave on either Thursday night or early early Friday morning.  We are headed back to Arkansas for our kid's Spring Break so we can see our family and friends.  We've not seen them in forever.  We are spending Easter Sunday with Steven's mom and her husband and his kids and then on to our other families for the week.  Wednesday we are going to be in Hot Springs at the horse track spending the day with my mom and our friends and enjoying the day.  I'm not real sure what we are doing the rest of the week, but I know it will be fun regardless just because we are going to be out of Jersey and back "home".

Today and tomorrow are going to be extremely nasty, nasty days - rain wise.  The rest of the week is supposed to be dry and beautiful and actually in the 70 degree temps - I just hope that's how nice and warm it is in Arkansas next week too.  We will see - keep your fingers crossed for us! :o)

Well, I am babbling so I will stop now and quit boring you - LOL.  I hope that you've had a great weekend and have an even better week.  I have lunch plans tomorrow with the wonderful and lovely Summer over at B is for Brown and I can't wait!  I haven't seen her in such a long time and I've really missed her!  I will have to remember my camera so I can get a picture of us too.  If you've not been to her blog - go check her out - she's a real southern sweetheart who you will fall in love with like me and the rest of her followers have. :o)

Much love and hugs,

Free Therapy Thursday

It's Free Therapy Day!! That's right, it's Thursday, which means it's the Thank You Very Much day. The way it works is that you take out all your frustrations on people/things that peeved you off during the week and thank them in a very sarcastic way, for being who or what they are/doing what they did. I know everyone can use some free therapy, so be sure to go visit Kmama over at The Daily Dribbles and link your post up and play along!

1.  To Mother Nature who can NOT make up her mind on the weather from day to day - you suck - if I wanted more snow I'd live in Alaska - so Thank you very much;

2.  To the HR lady for reminding me that I will only have 3 days of vacation left after this upcoming one and the one planned in August - I am well aware and keep track of it so Thank you very much;

3.  To the bus driver yesterday morning who was a madman swerving in and out of traffic the.entire.way to work so I wasn't able to get my morning nap in - Thank you very much;

4.  To my lovely teenage daughter who still insists on being STUBBORN and combative lately on e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g and has given me more stress than I care to deal with - Thank you very much;

5.  To my wonderful bosses and the firm for allowing people who go on vacation to actually HAVE a vacation without being bothered for any reason so they can relax - Thank you very much;

6.  To the weeks for dragging on and on so that it feels like f.o.r.e.v.e.r before we actually leave on vacation though it's only a week from now - Thank you very much;

7.  To all of the wonderful and crafty bloggers out there who have given me so many ideas for things I never knew I could do - Thank you very much;

8.  To my paralegal, Pat, for getting me hooked on yet another audio book that I look forward to listening to every day on my way home - Thank you very much;

9.  To my baby sister whom is on Spring Break and I've not gotten to talk to this week at all - Thank you very much - I miss you and can't wait to see you next week;

10.  To my weight that refuses to drop below 130 again no matter how hard I am trying - Thank you very much  - you are a real pain in my arse; and

11.  To my darn computer screen who just totally screwed up and I don't have time to fix - Thank you very much!

So... there you have it my friends - like I said, come play along and get some free therapy - we can all use it, right?!  Have a great day and Happy Thursday! Only one more day til the weekend - YAY!!!

Lots of love and hugs,

Real Simple and Ivillage

Happy Tuesday my lovies!  How are you? How was your Monday? Ours was good just wet and very very rainy - which I LOVE!  I LOVE all things thunderstorms and rain - as long as there are no tornadoes or floods around. :o)  Anyway, on to the website that I promised I would tell you all about.  The website is called:  IVILLAGE - and is a great website for anything and everything you can think of and a real community.  On their website there is a link for their message boards which has other links that will take you to things like parenting advice, food and recipes, crafts, pets, etc.  Last week I was contacted by Tamara, over at Ivillage, and was asked by her to fill you, my readers and followers, in on a new community challenge that they have coming up beginning on March 29th that I will be following and think you will want to do the same.

Here is some valuable information that will give you some insight into what this particular post is all about:

Real Simple and iVillage are teaming up on the Get An Extra Weekend Community Challenge. When you join, iVillage will send you small, manageable steps to make each day more efficient--giving you a weekend's worth of free time! Readers can sign up now and tips will start flowing March 29.   Here are just two exclusive tips as a sneak peek of what you can expect:

(from Elizabeth Graves)
MAKE A NO-BRAINER BREAKFAST

First things first: a no-brainer breakfast does not mean skipping breakfast! It’s absolutely the most important meal of the day. It fuels your body with energy and nutrients. And studies reveal eating breakfast is essential to losing weight—and keeping it off—since people who skip breakfast tend to overeat later in the day (for more smart eating tips, log onto realsimple.com/eatrightforlife). Lack of time usually stops people from eating each morning. So here’s my quick, no-excuse strategy: Every Sunday, I buy five individual containers of plain Greek yogurt, a great source of protein and calcium. Then I scoop 1/3 of a cup of low fat, high-fiber cereal into five snack-size plastic bags. I toss a yogurt and a bag of cereal into my purse each morning, and then combine the two and enjoy them at work. When I’m craving a little sweetness, I add fresh fruit or drizzle on some Agave Nectar Syrup, which I keep in my desk drawer.

(from Danielle Claro)
CLEAR CORD CLUTTER

Whether your family computer lives in a home office or occupies a corner of the living room, it’s likely to be hanging out with a lamp, a printer, and perhaps, separate speakers—all with their own wires, each with a will of its own. To keep cords under control, grab an empty paper towel or toilet paper tube and cut it from one end to the other with a pair of scissors. Snap the tube over the cords and, using duct tape, attach the whole shebang to the underside of the desk, away from the leg area. You can also use paper tubes to corral lengthy extension cords by loosely winding spare footage and slipping it inside a roll (no scissors needed this time).

So be sure to log on to http://challenges.ivillage.com/get-an-extra-weekend and see what they are all about! Be sure to sign up (it's free) so that you don't miss out on any good tips!  I promise you will not be disappointed.  I have been a member of http://www.ivillage.com/ for about 10-11 years now and continue to go to that website to search out answers for anything I may be looking for when it comes to parenting, scrapbooking, etc.  It has always been a great source for information. :o)

P.S.  I was not paid to advertise or tell you anything about this website or the challenge, in any form or fashion.  I have truly used the ivillage website for the last 10 to 11 years and find it a very valuable source of information and was more than happy to fill you in on this great website.  I hope you will take the time and go check it out.

Have a great day and stay dry.  I am really enjoying the rain - one main reason is because it's NOT SNOW! LOL

P.S.S - I'm sure I'm driving all of you crazy with my background changing constantly, but, I can't find anything specific that I really really like.  I can't decide if I want a background custom made for me that stays the same or if I want to continue to change it every month with the seasons, holidays, etc.  What do you think? Any ideas? Would love your opinion! :o)

Lots of love and hugs my friends,

Any ideas? Would love your opinion! :o)

Lots of love and hugs my friends,

Weekend Recap - Atlantic City

Happy Monday my friends! How are you?  How was your weekend?  Anything fun and exciting happen your way?  There wasn't a lot going on here really, but we were able to get a lot done on Friday night and Saturday with bills and stuff around the house like groceries, yard work, etc.  It was a GORGEOUS and sunny day on Saturday and the perfect day to be outside!  I even got some crafting done as well which I will show you at a later time.  :o)

On Sunday, we went with our friends on a bus to Atlantic City to the Trump Tower Taj Majal casino and had a blast!  This family rents a huge bus every year to go to Atlantic City for the day and have for the last 12 years as a rememberance of their grandmother who passed away (not sure how long ago) but they have continued the tradition and now that they had with her.  They each bring friends with them so that there is a full bus and there is beer, sodas, snacks, movies, music, etc.  And it really is a huge family reunion and the neatest thing!

Anyway, we got there and was shown around and how to get our own "Trump Card" and began gambling.  We are not big gamblers so we played the penny machine and I even played the dollar machine a few times and the first time I played it I won $50 bucks!  Had I bet the MAXIMUM bet however, I would have won $500 bucks!!! ACK!  Oh well.... live and learn, right?! $50 bucks is $50 bucks! :o)  We were there from 10:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. yesterday and then on the way back they played the movie "The Hangover".  All I can say is OMG I laughed my arse off and even my husband thought it was hilarious, which actually surprised me! HA!

Here are some pictures from our day:

The buffett food was OVER PRICED AND DISGUSTING to say the least - it cost us $54.00 for 2 buffetts and the food was NOT worth it - I think I need to speak to the Donald! HA!

Sorry for the picture overload - but there was so many nice ones that I hated to not include them all.  I hope you have a wonderful day - we are expecting a lot of rain here for the next 2 days.   P.S.  I've not been able to catch up with my Friday Follow or get to your blogs this weekend, but will try and catch up later tonight. Sorry about that - it's been a very busy weekend as you can see.  Have a great day my peeps! :o)

Lots of love and hugs,
