Monday, Monday - Weekend Recap

Happy Monday guys and dolls.  Hope you had a fantastic weekend!  We had a lot of this and that going on this weekend, but it was still a very nice and relaxing one to say the least.  Here is a quick recap:

Friday night consisted of just coming home and relaxing and catching up on our DVR shows

Saturday morning we got up bright and early and finished up the laundry, did a few chores around the house and then we took off to the Tanger Outlet Mall in Texas City for a day of shopping.  I was in DIRE need of some new work clothes (mainly blouses) and Brooks Brothers was having a killer deal! I got 7 pieces for a total of $288 - see... I told you - a deal! :)

Afterwards, we were only about 20 minutes from downtown Galveston, so we went to the Strand and walked around doing some more shopping and enjoying a few adult beverages and a late lunch/early dinner.  We also did some CHRISTmas tree ornament shopping and I got a few more pieces to go on my tree. Then we headed back to the house and watched our beloved Hogs whip up on LSU again for the 2nd year in a row and got to bring the Boot back to Arkansas where it belongs:

On Sunday, I slept in until 7:30 and then got up and started my CHRISTmas decorating around the house and can't wait to show you some of the final results.  I actually completed my entire tree yesterday once and for all.  Granted, I have been working on it now for at least a week.  You know how long it takes to get a huge tree fluffed and decorated, right?! I'm SO happy that part is over.  My mantle is completed now and the stockings are hung.  Yes, I do realize it is only the 16th of November, however, we decided we wanted to be able to enjoy our December this year without still trying to decorate for CHRISTmas.  But, I am also being a rebel too, because my kitchen has all of my THANKSgiving decorations on the table as I refuse to skip one holiday to go to the next and this year we have a lot to be thankful for.

Today is the big day - we should finally find out WHEN they are going to induce our daughter this week so that we get to finally meet our handsome little grandson once and for all. My daughter has gotten to the point we all do when pregnant, completely miserable, and she is more than ready for that baby to be here for more than one reason.  I will keep you posted, so stay tuned! :)

Weekend Shenanigans

Good morning and Happy Monday darlins!! I hope that you all had a lovely weekend with a lot of activities and time with your families.  Our weekend was good and here are a few of the recaps:

-- started Friday night off playing Bunco with 23 other ladies.  It was Halloween themed and we all dressed up in Halloween tshirts, etc. and she gave us all a Witch's hat. 

-- Saturday morning it.was.POURING. and HARD.  Hubby let me sleep in while he got up and took care of the pups and then he stayed in the living room watching tv and catching up on his dvr shows while I slept in the bedroom as to not disturb me.  Awww... what a good hubby he is... :)

-- Later Saturday once the rain calmed down a wee bit, we ran to the Post Office and grabbed our mail and while there I got 4 books of the new Forever Peanut Stamps - OMG they are TOO CUTE! My CHRISTmas cards this year are the Peanut Characters, so when I saw these, of course I had to have them

-- Went to Costco to stock up on our normal monthly/bi-monthly needs, ran to Wally World, finished up what grocery shopping we didn't get done at Costco and got back home in time to watch the Razorback game, where we won 63-28 (even though we won hugely, it wasn't a good team we played, but... a win is a win is a win, right?! :)

-- During Half-Time I made a quick run to Payless to check out their dress shoes, as I was in dire need of some new ones for the Fall.  I bought SIX pair as they had BOGO and also I am a rewards member and they had an extra 31% off on top of that, so I got all six pair for only $87!!!! Whoop Whoop - talk about a bargain, right!? :)  Here is the main shoes I got and in different colors:

-- Put away all of the inside Halloween Decorations and handed out candy to the trick or treaters

-- Sunday morning I got up early, started cleaning and washing clothes, took care of the pups and then when hubby got up, he started getting down my Thanksgiving decorations, along with the CHRISTmas decorations where I may or may not have began putting up my CHRISTmas decorations including my mantle and CHRISTmas village, though I drew the line in the kitchen and decorated the table and shelf behind my table all for Thanksgiving.  I spent the rest of my day working on that and finished the night off cooking dinner and relaxing and catching up on my DVR shows before going to bed at 8:30 - we are real party animals, can't you tell?! :)

Weekend Recapping

Happy Monday, guys and dolls!  Hope you had a fabulous weekend!  Ours was kind of a hit and miss but there were some highlights:

-- Friday night we went to dinner with our neighbors across the street at our favorite little Mexican restaurant down the road.  On our way home I received a phone call that made the night AWESOME! Back in December I had emergency gallbladder surgery - well long story short, thanks to the crappy insurance we had, MY portion of the bill was over $60,000!!!! Yes, you read all of those zero's correctly.  Anywho.... we've already paid over $7,000 towards that bill since May.  Well, on Friday night the billing company called and said that thanks to us being what they called "underinsured" that our NEW balance was now only $1,330.63 and did we want to pay that off in full today?! Ummm... what just happened?! Of course, we said YES!!!!  Come to find out that after MONTHS of us fighting with the hospital and our insurance company (because, come on, that was ridiculous for a TWO day stay in the hospital - that amount didn't include the doctors, surgeons, nothing - that was just for the stay), they decided to give us a "charity" discount and that $1,330.63 was the remaining balance after that plus all we had already paid towards it.  Hello FREEDOM!!! Whoop Whoop - talk about a HUGE relief off our shoulders!!

-- Saturday it began to really start raining, but we had errands to run and groceries to get, so we got out and took care of a few things that morning.  By 11 a.m., however, we were back home and watching our Hogs take on Auburn.  Talk about a NAIL BITER - it went into FOUR Overtimes but we actually pulled it out and won the game!  It was a MUCH needed win and definitely one that had us on the edge of our seats the entire game.  

Once the heart attacks were over, we left to run more errands and grab dinner.  We got home and had just settled in bed to catch up on our DVR shows and then BOOM our power went out - ARGH!!!!!!!  Well, come to find out, it wasn't an actual power outage, our main breaker on the breaker box burnt up and melted.  Of course, it was pouring down rain, so there wasn't any way our landlords could get an electrician out there that night at 8 o'clock, so we just hunkered down and read, and went to sleep early.  Talk about being miserable trying to get stuff done that needed to be cooked and cleaned on Sunday without electricity - blah.  It was okay to rough it for the night, but I was SO happy to have our power back on Sunday by 1 p.m.! 

-- Sunday, once our power was restored, I was finally able to cook and clean and start preparing for the week ahead.  Did I mention I am starting another Whole 30 today? I eat mainly Paleo as it is, but wanted to get my body back on track before Thanksgiving hits and this is the way to do it.

Today I have a class for work and will be out of the office all day, but at least the rain has stopped. However, we are experiencing some nice COOL weather today and I am SUPER excited about that and being able to dress a little warmer today - I'm sure the classroom will be frigid this morning.

Friday Faves

Happy Happy Friday guys and dolls and Happy THREE DAY WEEKEND - can I get a WHOOP WHOOP!!!???  I do hope that you are all getting to celebrate that with me - I've been waiting for this day since last month when I had the first one - HA!  Today is the link up party Friday Faves and you know the drill, so come play along, won't you?!  

Here are some of my faves happening at the moment:

(1) Chicago Cubs won the Wild Card game against the Pirates two nights ago.  

Ya'll, this.is.HUGE!! We've not won a Wild Card game in 12 years and haven't won a World Series in over a 100 years! And Arietta is an AWESOME pitcher, but of course it doesn't hurt that he has an awesome group of teammates backing him up and being there to help make the plays in the pinch. Now today we start the Best of 5 against the St. Louis Cardinals on our way to win a spot in the World Series - this is our year - I just know it! :)

(2) Houston Astros - they won their first game of their series last night against the Kansas City Royals on their way to a push for the World Series Spot as well.

(3) My Razorbacks, of course!  We are playing Alabama tomorrow and I know it's going to be a hard fought game.  We may win and we may not - we have beat them before, but it's going to depend on who shows up to play this week on what the outcome will be.  But, I am a die hard, life long fan and will never yield and will always be rooting on my Hogs, win or lose! :)  WPS!!!

(4) This Mug - my Yeti.  

Do you have one of these? OMG they are absolutely THE BEST MUG EVER invented!  When I tell you that I've had ice in it for over 12 hours straight, sitting in a HOT car in Texas heat, I am being dead serious!  I was completely shocked and amazed to be honest!  And for coffee lovers out there - trust me when I say - it keeps your coffee HOT for over 5 or 6 hours and for a while I even have to take the lid off just to let it cool down a wee bit so that I can actually drink it - it keeps it that insulated.  Also, the top I absolute LOVE because it's a tempered plastic and your lips aren't touching the stainless steel of the mug when you go to drink.  It is completely on the lid and very comfortable - it may not be a big deal to some of you, but it's a HUGE deal to me - I absolutely despise having my lips touch stainless steel when drinking it.  And yes, the $30-$40 price tag is absolutely worth every penny.  Run and get one - I promise you won't be disappointed - it is truly everything they claim it is. They come in different sizes - I think this 20 oz, a 30 oz and I know there's also a beer huggie one too. :)

(5) And last but not least:

This is SO me every Friday, but the fact that there is a 3 day weekend involved, makes the day even sweeter!! LOL

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday, peeps!  How was your weekend? Better than mine, I hope! Nah, seriously, my weekend was great, despite my Razorbacks falling short to Toledo on Saturday and my Chicago Cubs falling short to the Phillies all weekend.... sigh.... it was just not our week.  Sometimes I get so worked up over the way my Hogs play that I literally have to walk away and not watch anymore. Now, mind you, I am NOT a fair weather fan by any means, I am a TRUE Hog fan thru and thru - but sometimes my heart just can't take the pain of it. I know, I sound like a guy, right?! LOL Well, I guess I have my mother to blame when it comes to screaming at the tv (like they can hear me), because when I was growing up, she too was the sports fan in the marriage of her and my dad. Though my hubby is a huge sports fan, he's not as huge as me when it comes to yelling and getting upset at the tv - he may slap his hand on the couch because he's so frustrated, but that's about the extent of his excitement when he's upset with our team. HA!

Anyway, how was your weekend?  Did your teams play and actually win by chance?  Besides watching football and baseball, we pretty much relaxed as much as possible.  We did some cooking, cleaning and watching Hallmark movies.  I'm so thankful my husband and I still have so much in common after almost 18 years of marriage....it sure makes it easier on both of us. :)  Also, Texas has finally started to feel the cool crisp Fall temps that have been making their way across the country.  I miss REAL Fall so much - it is my absolute favorite time of year.  I love the orange, red, yellow and green colors of the leaves, the perfect sweater weather, bonfires, among other Fall wonders. What about you? How is the weather where you are?
