What are your weekend plans? Anything special going on? Hubby and I are actually going to get away for a 3 day weekend and I can't wait! It will be nice to get out of town for a short time.  We have many home projects that need to be done, but we decided to do it another day.  LOL Thanks to my husband's schedule and my super busy work schedule we rarely get any time together, so this will be a nice little getaway together. :)

Couples Quiz

I have seen this couples quiz on a few other blogs and thought it was cute. Since I have nothing interesting to blog about this week, due to my impending vacation tonight, this looked like the perfect "filler" for the day and I thought I would let y'all know a little about me and the Mr.!

1. What are your middle names?  Michael and Renee

2. How long have you been together?  12 ½ years and counting

3. How long did you know each other before you started dating?  One week

4. Who asked who out?  He asked me out. I tried to cancel our first date 3 times because I had no babysitter - so he decided since we both had a 3 year old child we would just take them on our first date – the rest is history! ;o)

5. How old are each of you?  He is 41, I will be 42 in May (I am 8 months older than him - but I look younger - :o))

6. Did you go to the same school?  No.

7. Are you from the same home town?  No - our hometowns are an hour apart.

8. Who is the smartest?  I think we are both smart in different areas.  He is VERY good when it comes to money and finances, and I am very good when it comes to spelling, English, homemaking, computers, etc.

9. Who majored in what?  He majored in Business Administration and Mass Communications and I majored in Speech Therapy.

10. Who is the most sensitive?  Depends – he probably is more sensitive now than I am – though I used to be the most sensitive (I've been in NY too long - HA!)

11. Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?  Bahamas and/or Mexico

12. Who has the worst temper?  Me, unfortunately. I can either be silent or yell and scream and then give the silent treatment – sad but true. I don’t like me when that happens and try not to be that person.

13. How many children do you want?  We have two 16 yo – need I say more?! HA!  Seriously, I can't have more children unfortunately, due to female issues, so I am very thankful for my 2 even if they are a PIA at times. :o)

14. Who does the cooking?  I do most of the cooking – though he makes an excellent Tomato Soup!

15. Who is more social?  Definitely ME! I never meet a stranger.

16. Who is the neat freak?  My husband is SO ANAL about things and is definitely the NEAT FREAK!

17. Who is the most stubborn?  MOI- Stubborn AS A MULE. Yes, this can cause friction sometimes, but hey, when you're right..., pssssh, you're RIGHT! =)

18. Who wakes up earlier?  Me! I get up at 5:15 every morning to shower, drink my coffee and blog before getting ready for my day. (Hey - I have my priorities in order - :o))

19. Where was your first date?  We went to a place called Playworld in Conway, Arkansas with our two 3 yo children.

20. Who has the bigger family?  Me for sure! I have 3 sisters and a brother and I am the oldest of us all.

21. Do you get flowers often?  Yes, my husband made me my own flower garden – so I get flowers daily if not every other day in the Spring and Summer - whenever they are in full bloom - Awwww...... :o)

22. How do you spend the holidays?  We spend them home alone with just us and the kids now. But when we lived in Arkansas (home) we literally went to 3 different stops every.single.year except Christmas where we stayed home and made that our family day.

23. Who is more jealous?  Neither of us are jealous thankfully.  I'm too social for my husband to be jealous - he learned a long time ago that I am not flirting with men - I am just a friendly person! HA!

24. How long did it take to get serious?  We were married after 2 months – what do you think? P.S. And NO I was NOT pregnant! HA!

25. Who eats more?  He does

26. What do you do for a living?  Hubby – General Manager of Retail for Newark Airport - Me – Legal Secretary in NYC

27. Who does the laundry?  The kids each do their own and then I do mine and the hubby’s work clothes – but he does help where needed with laundry or anything else around the house both inside and out

28. Who's better with the computer?  Definitely ME

29. Who drives when you are together?  He does! He doesn’t like my driving though I am a very safe driver and have never had a wreck - I think it's a man thing :o)

Day 2 of Our Love Story

Happy Hump Day my friends! I hope all of you are doing fantasmic today and this week so far!  We took the hubster to dinner last night for his birthday and had a great time.  I will post some pictures from last night at the end of this post.  However, I wanted to continue on with part II of our love story for those of you who might be interested. :o)

After our first date went so well, we started dating (I know, I'm stating the obvious here).  The weekend after our first date, however, he had his son but my daughter was at her biological dad's for the weekend, so I went back to the same dance place that I had met Steven the week prior and hung out again with my best friend.  Steven stayed home but his "posse" was there and he told them to say hello to me. (he also went to his mother's that afternoon and told her he had met the woman he was going to marry) I didn't get in until 4:00 a.m. that morning and he decided to call me at 8:00 a.m.! UGH!  I was a wee bit tired and hungover to say the least! HA!  But we made a date for him to come over around noon that day and we would watch movies, etc.  (This was a Sunday).  So, he got there, we hung out watching movies and just talked getting to know each other.  (my daughter was back by this point)  About 3 p.m. as we were talking, I told him that I liked him and would like to get to know him better but didn't really want to be exclusive as I had just gotten divorced from my daughter's bio-dad 2 months prior and was in no rush to jump right back into a steady relationship. 

Well, he decided that was his cue to leave (he's quite the sensitive man, mind you- hee hee hee) as he had been divorced for over 3 years at that point and was looking to settle down with the right girl.  But when he was talking about leaving, I invited him to dinner and my daughter asked him to play play-doh with her (she was 3), which he did.  I cooked Porkchops, green beans and hashbrown casserole that night.  I gave him 3 porkchops and a huge helping of green beans and hashbrowns.  (I was used to a little brother, dad and uncle who ate a LOT) - Steven couldn't even eat 1/2 of that when we first started dating but being the gentleman that he was he tried as best as he could so he didn't offend me - silly man! HA!  Long story short, after dinner he stayed and we literally talked and talked and talked some more until it was 5 a.m. Monday morning! WOW!  I decided after really getting to know him (as much as I could have at that point) that I would definitely date him exclusively. 

We dated for 2 months (he lived in a different city than I did which was an hour away) and then me and my daughter moved in with him.  I lived in an apartment in the same town as my ex-husband and he and his family were beginning to cause problems for me and even had my roommate that I was living with spying on me, etc.  It was NOT a good situation.  So after we moved in together (he had a very nice house that he had just bought with 3 bedrooms waiting to be filled with all things girly-:o)), I think we lived together for about a month before finally deciding that we were just going to get married and get it over with.  Why drag something out when we felt it was "RIGHT", right?! :o)  So one Wednesday at noon on our lunch hour, we went to the Justice of the Peace in Little Rock and got married and then went back to work - HA!  People were very surprised to say the least - he and I were not that impulsive like that - as far as getting married when we had only known each other for 2 months before! :o)  Anywho - the first 10 years of our marriage was spent fighting for full custody of his son (which we won 2 years ago finally) - that in itself, is another post - talk about backwoods lawyers and judges who are crooked - UGH! 

However, as they say - the rest is history!  We will be married 13 years this year - O.M.G.! I can NOT believe it! I have never spent any time with any man that long in my life (besides family of course)! I am actually quite proud of that number too as he and I both had a hellacious marriage prior to meeting one another and we knew what we wanted and so when we did meet and finally get together, that's why we decided to go for it and just take the plunge - glad to say it is working out so far! HA!

Well, that's the story of how we met and ended up together as a couple.  I will tell you more about us another time.  As promised, I am going to leave you with pictures from the hubster's last night's birthday dinner.  The food was to.die.for!  (P.S. Summer - you will appreciate this one my lovie as it is New Orleans style) :o)

Day 2 of Our Love Story

2 months - (yes, I know, I know...don't judge - it worked out!)

He asked me out the night we first met and I proceeded to give him my 1-800 number at work as I wasn't sure I liked him and would want to go out with him - HA!

Steven is 40 and I am 41 (I am 8 months older than him but he looks older than me - shhh... hee hee hee)

No.

No, our hometowns are about an hour apart.

Hard to say - we really enjoy trying several different places and unless we find one we really like then we don't tend to visit the same place often.

Germany when we celebrated our 10 year anniversary (2 years late) the first week of September this year.

When we got married my husband wanted a baseball team - but when I met him I could no longer have children - so lucky for us both - he had a 3 yo son from his previous marriage and I had a 3 yo daughter from my previous marriage and so it has worked out great - now we have 2 nearly 16 yo teenagers living at home! YIKES! :o)

Definitely me but there are times where he will cook like grilled chicken wings, etc.

Definitely ME - the more the merrier I always say - but he hates crowds.

OMG - HE is - I'm more of a relaxed person when it comes to that - but he is VERY VERY ANAL about being neat - his mother said he came out of her that way! HA!
