Another Weekend Project Off My List:

Happy Monday my friends! Hope you had an awesome weekend!  Ours was great but very busy.  I was able to tackle another project and mark it off my on-going list.  My kids and husband were all gone to work among other things, so in between running the kids here and there, I decided to get the ugly sliding mirror doors out of my living room once and for all.

So what do you think?  Better?  I think it's 100% better!  And so nice to finally get it done.  But now the hard part is trying to decide what to put up there in place of the doors.  I want something that is going to blend in and look very nice with our living room.  Any suggestions?  My husband wants to hang some sort of nice curtain and curtain rod up there - but I'm not sure how that would look.  I would like to have some nice doors to hang back up but not sure what, if anything, would look good there.

Home Projects - To Do List:

Hi my friends!  Welcome to Thursday!  Almost to the weekend - YAY!  I've seen this in the bloggy world a few times lately and thought I really need to do this - so I'm not sure "who" I've borrowed it from - but will gladly give credit where credit is due if it is yours! :o)

As you may (or may not) know - I am a HUGE DIY'er and I love all kinds of remodels, refurbishings, painting, spray painting, crafts, etc.  Here is  my "current' (and never-ending I'm sure) list I have going on:

Stairway/Hallway:

Add wainscotting up the wall

Change out both light fixtures
Change out wall photos/organize frames
Paint frames
Rip up carpet
Stain or paint wooden steps once carpet is up

Dining Room:
Change out light fixture
Add Wainscotting
Add Chair rail
Paint inside of Large walk-in pantry
Add baskets for neater storage

Kitchen:
Re-paint
Spray paint cabinet and drawer hardware
Fix crown molding on top of pantry cabinet
Replace flooring
Paint Refrigerator
Change out ceiling fan(?)

Laundry Room:
Pull out metal shelves
Add wooden shelves
Add organization baskets
Add vinyl above doors
Paint door knobs

Office:
Fix inside of closet - organize into craft closet
Add window treatments
Re-organize shelves

Living Room:

Weekend Projects - Before, Durings and After

Happy Tuesday my friends! How are you?  Great, I hope! I wanted to show you the 3 projects that I got completed this weekend (hard to believe I got so much accomplished considering how late I slept in each day - ha!)  Anyway, I hope you enjoy them:

Before (measuring everything out - this board is one that the hubby

took down out of my closet so I had it laying around and it was

 the perfect size for the top of the bench for added support):

During(making sure it all fits before "hot gluing" everything down)

The After (I velcroed it to the top of the chest):

 This is a lamp I had in my summer decor last year and decided to transform to be used in my daughter's room:

 During: (wrapping the lamp - there are so many tutorials out in the bloggy world)

 The after:  (and this almost turned into a big fat fail thanks to the fact that when I went to put it all back together I had somehow turned the lampshade upside down which meant that the beautiful red satin rose that I put on for that added pop of color had to be on the bottom instead because once it was glued down it refused to come off!) (sigh)  This was a first for me to ever do, so it didn't turn out perfect, which is why I won't be doing any tutorials on this particular project! HA!

And the final project of the weekend was this ugly built-in bookshelf in my living room:

It looks SO much better, right?! :)  It took me 4 hours to do the darn thing which was crazy! I didn't think it would take long at all to knock it right out - but, boy was I ever wrong! Oh well.. the after result is so worth it to me! What do you think? :)

Weekend Recap - Painting and Easter Edition

Happy Monday my friends! How are you?  I am worn out to say the least - it was an extremely busy weekend for us and couple that with the time change where we lost an hour of sleep and you get the idea.  Friday night we just relaxed and watched tv until about midnight (trying to catch up on our dvr'd shows).  Saturday morning we woke up to pouring down rain and extreme wind and I did NOT want to get out of bed.  However, I had to get up early and take my daughter to the Orthodontist (who is about 30 minutes away) and we found out that she will FINALLY get her braces off on May 24th - YAY!  She's so excited, as you can imagine!  Then she and I did some shopping afterwards before returning home.  My husband had to go into work to take care of some business that had transpired that morning so he was gone for most of the day.  I did a little touchup painting in the living room and then mainly laid around watching more of my dvr'd shows as I had done something to my shoulder and was in a lot of pain.  Saturday night we just all hung out again and then went to bed.  Sunday morning I had told my hubby that I wanted to sleep late and not wake me up - but.... it never fails - the one day a weekend I could sleep in I am always up with the birds - *sigh* 

So, I got up and began painting one of the walls in our dining room and did some decorating for Easter afterwards.  Then I took a break and went to the mall to do some shopping for work clothes.  When I returned home (5 hours later) I went back to painting my dining room wall.  After painting, I then made homemade banana bread (in the crockpot), cleaned up my paint mess and put away extra decorations, vacummed, did a load of laundry, showered and finally laid down beside my husband around 9:30 to get ready for bed.  WHEW!  Fast forward to this morning and I am worn out and really looking forward to my morning nap on the bus this morning. hee hee hee  Sooo... what did you do this weekend? Fill me in - I can't wait to catch up with all of you!

As promised, I have finally finished the living room and taken a few pictures to show you.  This is the color of our living room the day we bought the house (ignore the man in the photo - he is our realtor) - they had the entire downstairs and hallway painted this very light light yellow and it just looked so dirty.  We however, prefer dark taupe colors and are loving our new walls/living room (which, by the way, we love this color so much that we always paint our house these taupe colors wherever we move) By the way - the paint color is Mocha Latte from Lowes) The White trim paint is just extra white primer from Home Depot - I found white primer is so much prettier and white for trim and anything else that you want to paint white. :o)
