TRUE Ghost Story Friday

Hello my blogarino friends! How's it going? I thought since tomorrow is Halloween that I would share a few TRUE ghost stories with you to help bring the "chill" of this spooky season to the air. :o)  These are my PERSONAL experiences and are all very very true!

(1) I was a senior in high school and dating this guy (for about a year or two).  I stayed at his house quite often on the weekends (in a separate room that used to be his grandmothers) (his family L.O.V.E.D. me and I still stay in touch with his mom and one of his younger brothers to this day).  Anyway, their house was built on an Indian burial ground and would become VERY haunted in the months of September through November.  Well one weekend we were all downstairs in the den area and we heard this HUGE crash upstairs in the boy's bathroom.  We all ran (me, him, his mom and brothers) upstairs to see what happened and couldn't believe our eyes.  They had this HUGE iron basket with HUGE SPIKE NAILS nailed to the wall in their bathroom that held tiny seashells from all of their trips to the ocean over the years.  Anyway, it had came completely OUT of the wall and was on the floor everywhere.  It was a mess.  The thing was that it was NOT heavy from the seashells at all and there was no possible way for those spikes (which were not loose) to come out of the wall all on their own for no reason.

(2)  One night we were all sitting down to dinner at the table (you know, when families used to do that sort of thing) and something happened that we were discussing the "ghosts" (boyfriend's dad did NOT believe at all) and I'm not sure what his dad was saying but it had to do with the not believing part when across the room on the kitchen counter (behind us) a butter knife went FLYING down the counter and across the room onto the floor - needless to say, I think bf's dad started believing that night then and there.

(3)  Another time, me and boyfriend's mom were doing laundry and walking down the hall and around the corner to the boy's bathroom when something came through and completely knocked the towels out of both of our hands.  (I forgot to mention that the corner where the boys' rooms and bathroom were and the grandmother's room where I slept when I was there was where the temperature was always really cold and where the most things happened).

(4)  Other times me and bf's mom would be sitting in the kitchen discussing the occurrences and things that had been happening when all of a sudden it would get SO COLD in the kitchen that it would literally run us OUT of the house to the outside porch.  It was like it didn't like us talking about the spirits or something.

(5) The last one that I can remember off hand was one night I was sleeping in the grandmother's room (she no longer lived there) and the door to the bedroom was shut and about 3 a.m. I was woken up to feeling as if something was staring at me.  I opened my eyes and floating right above the dresser was a small white figure - it FREAKED me out so much that I immediately jumped up and turned my light on, opened the bedroom door, then turned the lamp in the bedroom on and TRIED to go back to sleep - needless to say, it was a very long night in which I never was able to go back to sleep.

So... what about you?  Do you believe in ghosts or spirits?  If so, have you ever had any personal experiences?  One of my favorite shows in the world to watch is TAPS (aka Ghost Hunters) it comes on Wednesday nights on the Sci-Fi channel at 9 p.m. EST.  It's really neat and the guys are so real in their investigations.  Check it out!  Are you doing anything special tomorrow for Halloween? Are you going to a party or staying home to pass out candy? I, personally, will be staying home to pass out candy - however, I WISH I had an adult only party to go to - *sigh*  Maybe next year! :o)

I can't wait to see all of your pictures from the weekend! Have fun!

12 Years - WOW!!!

Let me introduce you to the love of my life - shall I....yes, I think I shall:

This is my wonderful honey of 12 years, Steven:
Through the Years
I cant remember when you weren’t there
When I didn’t care for anyone but you
I swear we’ve been through everything there is
Cant imagine anything we’ve missed
Cant imagine anything the two of us cant do

(Cancun, Mexico 2004)
Through the years, you’ve never let me down
You turned my life around, the sweetest days I’ve found
I’ve found with you ... through the years
I’ve never been afraid, I’ve loved the life we’ve made
And I’m so glad I’ve stayed, right here with you
Through the years

(Buying our first house together)
I cant remember what I used to do
Who I trusted whom, I listened to before
I swear you’ve taught me everything I know
Cant imagine needing someone so
But through the years it seems to me
I need you more and more

(Cheering for the Razorbacks)
Through the years, through all the good and bad
I knew how much we had, I’ve always been so glad
To be with you ... through the years
Its better everyday, you’ve kissed my tears away
As long as its okay, Ill stay with you
Through the years

(Our first move to New York in 2005/2006)

Through the years, when everything went wrong
Together we were strong, I know that I belonged
Right here with you ... through the years
I never had a doubt, wed always work things out
I’ve learned what loves about, by loving you
Through the years

(At Steven's brother's wedding in 2007)

(At Dave & Buster's December 2007)
Through the years, you've never let me down
You've turned my life around, the sweetest days I've found
I've found with you ... through the years
It's better everyday, you've kissed my tears away
As long as it's okay, I'll stay with you
Through the years! (Lyrics by Kenny Rogers)

(New York 2008)
(Company Black-Tie Dinner May 2009)

So here's to you, my Sweet Love! I have loved being your wife through the good times and bad for the last 12 years and look forward to another 12 plus years to come. Thank you for being a great husband and father - you are a wonderful man and I am truly blessed to have you in my life.

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday Ya'll!  How was your weekend?  Ours was good.   We didn't really do anything special, but really enjoyed hanging out at home with the family.  Saturday was a very yucky and rainy day and it was so nice just to stay inside.  We spent the weekend house training this little fella:

and he did SO GOOD! He really is a natural as an inside dog.  He didn't pee or poop in the house even once and even laid down on "his" blanket in the living room with his new rope toy that we bought him and he loved every minute of it.  However, the little turkey has refused to eat his dogfood ALL WEEKEND! ARGH! I think the kids have given him so many table scraps over time that he has decided he didn't want to eat real dogfood any longer - I don't know what we are going to do to change him back.  My husband said when he gets hungry he will eat but he doesn't - he just smells his food and turns his nose up at it.  Ever since we sold his playmate last weekend, he's been in a really down and depressed state of mind and we decided to bring him in so that he wouldn't be lonely and this was the first chance we've had to try and train him.

Other than that, we were going to watch the Hogs play Ole Miss on tv Saturday but couldn't find the channel they were on and realized too late that it was channel 71 - ugh!  After how hard they played Florida last week (and should have won) I can't believe they played so bad against Ole Miss (and our old coach) of all things.  Sunday was a beautiful sunny day with a high of 60 and so nice! I was able to open my doors and let the cool breeze blow in.  I also made sure that all of my Fall scented candles were lit throughout the house to really bring that Fall "feel" to the indoors.

So... tell me - what did you do this weekend? Anything fun and exciting? Was the weather good for you to be outside and enjoy the fall temps?

Have a great day!

Halloween Cocktail Recipe Ideas

Happy Thursday, my peeps!  In the interest of keeping with a Halloween Theme - here is a drink recipe that looks and sounds delicious!

Ingredients:

8 oz. Freshly squeezed juice from a blood orange
1 (750 mL) bottle of Champagne
2 oz. Cointreau or Triple Sec

Instructions:

1. Fill a Champagne flute partway with blood orange juice.
2. Top with Champagne. Garnish with a blood orange slice and serve immediately

Obviously, this can be made in both the alcoholic version or non-alcoholic version.  In place of the Champagne - you can always use the sparkling apple cider or something of that nature for the kiddos.  Enjoy!

Here is a recipe that is neat looking for those Bloodshot eyeballs to add to any drink:

Ingredients (Eyeball x1):

1 radish
1 pimento stuffed green olive

Instructions:

1. First, peel the radish, leaving thin streaks of red skin for veins/blood vessels.
2. With the pointed tip of a vegetable peeler or with a small paring knife, scrape out an olive-sized hole in each radish.
3. Stuff an olive into each hole, pimento-stuffing-side out.
4. Pop each olive-stuffed radish into an ice cube tray (you may have to trim some of your radishes), and cover with water.
5. Freeze solid.
6. Alternately, just pop cold, prepared "eyeballs" into your favorite martini recipe-- no freezing needed.

Hope you have a great day!  We are on the downhill side of the week - YAY!

Big hugs,
Trac~ :o)

Senior Class Rings

This is what we did last night:

Hard to believe that we ordered senior rings during my daughter's sophomore year of high school - I don't remember ordering my senior ring until late in my junior year - too weird.  Anyway, you can't tell by this picture, but this ring is actually pretty dainty - though it doesn't appear that way and it looks like a boy's senior class ring instead.  As you can imagine, she is HYPED up and can't wait - especially since these darn things are being delivered in December of this year - WOW!

Sooooo... what did you do last night?  Anything fun and exciting for a Tuesday night?

Happy Hump day my friends! Make it a wonderful day!  We are on the downhill side of the week and etching even closer to Friday and the weekend.  P.S.  I've been so slammed at work these last 2 weeks that I've not had a chance to comment on many of your blogs - I hope to catch up later today or by the weekend.  I've been peeking at them throughout the day when I have a chance, though. :o)

Lots of love,
Trac~ :o)
