Week 41 - Finish This.....

Happy Hump Day my friends!  How are you?  Great, I hope!  It seems like no matter how much I try, I can never seem to get caught back up here in the bloggy world.  I appreciate all of your thoughts and comments on my last post regarding the racial profiling.  I was happy to see so many of you understood where I was coming from.  There have been a few changes since my last post - however, the main one is that I am no longer working for the law firm in downtown Houston, and am instead starting work tomorrow at a local bank as a loan processor and it's only 3 miles from home. Win Win!!!

Vacation Time and Finish This Linkup

Happy Hump Day ya'll!  TWO more desk days until I am OFFICIALLY on vacation for a total of 9 whole days - OMG I can NOT wait!  We have had this trip planned since February this year and it has been a LONGGGG time coming for sure!  We are headed on a cruise to Hondurus, Belize and Cozumel for 8 glorious days and 7 wonderful nights.  Hubby and I are celebrating our 17 year anniversary and our besties who are going with us are celebrating their 20th year anniversary and his birthday.  Anyway, needless to say, I will be out of pocket again for those 9 days and hope to catch up after that and get back on a regular blogging schedule going into the Fall.  Hard to believe it is middle of September already and all I can think of is SUN, SUN and MORE SUN this next week.  You can bet I will be taking a TON of pictures on our trip to share here when we return. :)

1.  I am the type of person who:  Tries to see the good in everyone no matter what the situation is.  I try to befriend everyone as I am a very friendly person, but some people just aren't up for being befriended - even co-workers sometimes, which really sucks.  Especially when I am in a place where I literally have.no.friends.or.family and look for people with a common bond...

2.  My favorite joke, riddle, or funny is:  I'm totally stumped on this one and don't have a clue - though I LOVE stand up comedians and love a lot of their jokes so I guess that counts, right?! :)

3.  All that really matters is: Faith, Family and Friends (borrowed this one from www.thejavamama.com (aka Becky) because she was spot on, on this, I thought!  Living life to the fullest, being happy and having your Faith, Family and Friends is definitely what life is truly all about, I think.

Finish This Link Up: Week 34 All About The Hair

I have finally gotten the chance to join this link up - finally!  And wouldn't you know it, it's ALL about the hair! :)

1. My daily hair routine consists of:  Flat Ironing.  I only wash my hair every 3-4 days MAX.  On the days that I do wash my hair it consists of washing with whatever shampoo I have on hand, putting several types of product in my hair (can't recall any of the names off hand), including Moraccan Oil and drying it straight with a paddle brush, then finishing it off with a flat iron and hairspray.

2. The best hair advice I’ve received:  Don't wash it every day because it will take all of your natural oils out of your hair and dry it out.  Also, never brush your hair when wet - always use a wide tooth comb.

3. My hair idol is:  Michelle Lea.  I love how shiny her hair looks all of the time no matter what time of day or night it is.  That and I just think she's gorgeous all the way around and love her hairstyle no matter what style she is sporting that day! :)

Finish This Link Up - Week 5

Happy Hump Day, guys and dolls!  Hope you're having a great one so far!  On to this week's link up... as usual I am linking up with my beautiful friend Becky from The Java Mama and the other ladies for this linky party. Please feel free to join in on the fun! :)

1. I will never outgrow… my mommy's hugs and phone calls.  I miss her terribly and love hearing from her and seeing her any chance I get.

2. I splurge on… purses.  I have tons of them and really do NOT need more.  I keep telling myself if I just splurge on the EXPENSIVE and timeless ones like Louis Vuitton, Coach, Kate Spade, etc., that I will not need any others - however, that doesn't seem to be the case. Oh well, a girl can never have too many purses, right?  And shoes... never too many shoes either.  :)  

3. My worst habit is… my daily Starbuck's trip now.  It has literally become a habit every morning on my way to work.

4. My passport represents… places I've been and where I am going.  It will get 2 stamps this year alone and I can't wait! :)

5. My most ridiculous fear is… snakes AND drowning - those are my worst fears ever. I freak out over snakes and the thought of drowning makes me nuts to the core at times if I let it consume me and take over my thoughts.

6. My favorite thing to give is… little gifts that I know others will like and a sentiment card to go with it.  Whether it be for their birthday or a just because.  I love surprising others just for the heck of it.

Finish This Link Up…Week 4

Happy Thursday, guys and dolls!  Hope you are having a great week so far!  I decided today to play along with The Java Mama and others who are linking up with the Finish This Link Up and they are already on Week 4.  I'm not sure why I've not thought to join this linky party before as I love linky parties! :)  So... without further adieu - 

1. I use my “green thumb” to … I don't have a green thumb, unfortunately.  However, my husband does.  That is his therapy - he loves to do all of our landscaping and playing with trees and flower bushes, etc.  He has me choose which ones I'd like to have, but he does all of the transplanting, pruning among other things.  My thumb is so black I even kill ferns and from what I hear that is almost impossible to do! HA!

2. The secret to life is being happy with yourself and who you are first and foremost. There will always be someone out there prettier than you, thinner, richer, etc.  On the flip side of that there will always be someone worse off than you too. Once you realize how good you really have it in life, that's when you will truly be happy and content and find you are in deed a very rich person. :)  Like my baby sister always says - the Good Lord let me wake up again today, so I am doing great! :)  Love her attitude. 

3. I get my money’s worth by looking for great deals.  The hubs and I always go to a Mexican Flea Market about 20 miles from our home every.single.weekend.  We have found some wonderful and very inexpensive pieces there and have brought them home for me to work my magic and refurbish them and turn them into their beautiful selves.  I love to repurpose and refurbish old items and make them new again.  I guess I get that from my parents.  Anything home related, I am all about!  See... here's an example of my latest refurbishment.  What do you think? I love how it turned out personally and it cost me a total of about $20.  That included purchase and paint! :)

4. On a scale of 1 to 10, my level of organization is definitely a 10.  I hate to be unorganized and it makes me nuts when there is clutter around. Unfortunately, my husband is more anal than I am though - which makes us butt heads at times because we both want it our way! HA!

5. A gentleman always treats his lady, among others, with kindness and respect.... no matter what.

6. Handwritten notes are unfortunately a thing of the past.  I wish letters still came in the mail.  I love fun mail days. :)  I don't have any handwritten notes (other than birthday and Christmas cards) from my favorite grandmother who passed many years ago, however, I do have her recipe box that has tons of her favorite recipes in her handwriting, which I cherish tremendously. :)
