Wednesday Words - St. Paddy's Day Style

Happy Hump Day and St. Paddy's Day my friends!  I thought I would amuse you with some facts about St. Patrick's Day since I didn't really have a post prepared otherwise! LOL  Enjoy! :o)

 1.  Do you know why we pinch people who forget to wear Green on St. Patrick's Day?

Its an American tradition... in the 1700s, they thought if you wore green, it made you invisible to the Leprechauns, which was good because they would pinch anyone they could see.  So the pinching is to warn and remind you about the Leprechauns. {via yahoo}  (Ironically, some people who live in the Northeast apparently have never heard of this tradition - we were beginning to think it was a Southern thing - LOL)

2.  Was St. Patrick really an Irishman?

St. Patrick was the patron saint of alcoholic Irishmen.  Praying to him on a certain day was said to cure liver disease and keep leprechauns out of your wife's knickers. {via yahoo}

3.  Is St. Patrick's Day only celebrated in the United States?

No.  Its the only national day celebrated world wide.  {via yahoo}

Well, there you have it - interesting facts and quotes that I bet you didn't know before this morning.  I hope I was able to prepare you for today with all of these and that you can now go and amuse your co-workers and friends! :o)  Personally, I WISH I were staying home today as I always dread the holidays like this due to all of the people who flock into the City for the St. Patrick's Day parade right.down.5th.Avenue - where I work - UGH!!!  Maybe today I will take my camera and see if I can get a few shots of it all instead of staying at my desk.  It is supposed to be a gorgeous and sunny 65 to 68 degrees today so I should really take advantage of it, huh?!

Have a great day my peeps and don't forget to wear Green so the other little Leprechauns don't pinch you ! :o)  Maybe tomorrow I will have some pictures to show you if I venture out at lunch today.

Lots of love and kisses,
