HAPPY TGIF is all I can say! Good morning my peeps and welcome to the weekend! What do you have on your agenda's? Maybe some Christmas parties to attend, or more shopping, baking or wrapping to do perhaps? We will be busy this weekend with one of our rent houses for the day on Saturday and after that I will be finishing up my wrapping and such and do a little baking on Sunday. I will probably also make a pot or two of soup and/or chili while I am at it too. These frigid temperatures do not make me a very happy camper - HA! It is currently 9 (NINE) degrees here this morning - yes, you read that right - NINE!!!! BRRRRRRR....
While visiting my friend, Gwen's blog last night, I thought I would copy borrow her idea for my post today as well because I am just way too lazy tired this morning to do anything else - so I hope you don't mind. :o) But, after you've finished reading my answers, please feel free to copy borrow them for yourself and put on your blog. Also, be sure to visit Gwen's blog over at Handbag Obsessed when you get a chance and let her know I sent you. She has a beautiful family and a great blog so check it out!
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? I prefer to wrap everything as much as possible. I enjoy wrapping and find myself getting better at it with each passing year. But the main thing is that the paper and bows, etc. HAVE to match the colors of my tree that year. I used to change my colors every year - but for the last 2 years, I've had the same colors - mainly Reds, Greens, Whites, and Silvers.
2. Real tree or artificial? Unfortunately, an artificial tree. I grew up going into the woods and cutting down our own tree but nowadays you can't do that and have to go to a "tree" farm or a "store" to purchase a tree, and it's just not the same to me. :(
3. When do you put up the tree? I always put it up on Thanksgiving night or the day after Thanksgiving when I get home from shopping.
4. When do you take the tree down? Usually the tree comes down either shortly after Christmas or at the very latest - New Year's Day and that is only because it's when I have the most time to work on it. I love the Christmas decorations for as long as possible but it sure feels good to get my house back in order afterwards.
5. Do you like eggnog? Ummm... YES please! I like it in my morning coffee or even with a little sumpin sumpin in it from time to time - hee hee hee
6. Favorite gift received as a child? Probably our Atari - does anyone besides me remember that toy or am I the only "OLD" one here? LOL My favorite game with it was Frogger! :)
7. Hardest person to buy for? Oh my gosh - my mother! I never know what to get her.
8. Easiest person to buy for? Definitely Alliye - she's a girl - enuf said! HA!
8. Easiest person to buy for? Definitely Alliye - she's a girl - enuf said! HA!
9. Do you have a nativity scene? Yes, I do and it's one my mother-in-law gave me last year. It is in a collection that I collect with the angels and such. I don't recall the name of it - but they are the only things I collect now. I have quite a few of them too. When I was first married, my father-in-law built me a nativity stable but over the years and many, many moves, it got messed up. I really would love for him to build me another one - I may have to get him working on that this year!
10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Definitely regular mail - I make about 75 to 100 Christmas cards every year and send them out to friends and family and I always love to get Christmas cards in the mail and get so excited when they all start pouring in!
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Hmmm.. it would have to be from my ex-husband who bought me a sweat suit after I had my daughter and he bought it xtra large - UMMM... HELLLOOOO??? I was not large - must lesss extra large! That thing went back the very next day! Sheesh!
12. Favorite Christmas movie(s)? How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Miracle on 34th Street, The Santa Clause 1 and 2, I'll be Home for Christmas and It's a Wonderful Life.
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? I used to shop the day after Thanksgiving and get it all done but now I don't enjoy going out at 3 a.m. much anymore - plus my kids aren't babies so they don't need those $20 barbies for $2.99 at Toys R Us.
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? No, because I haven't needed to as of yet.
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? I guess, Candy Canes.
16. Lights on the tree- colored or clear? Definitely clear - I just like the way they look on a tree all lit up with the ornaments.
17. Favorite Christmas song? I love love love Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey's version of Baby It's Cold Outside.
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Since we live so far from family and have for the last 5 years - we stay home. :(
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and Rudolph
20. Angle, star, or ribbon on the top of the tree? I personally would love to have something besides an Angel but my husband insists that only an angel can be on top of our tree each year.
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or Christmas morning? Depends on when my son is going back to Arkansas to visit his biological mother and her family. This year we will get to have Christmas Day with him so it will be Christmas day for sure and that makes me VERY happy! :)
22. Favorite children's Christmas song? I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas - me too - I LOVE this song! :)
23. Most annoying thing about this time of year? The hustle and bustle of everyone and their bad attitudes.
24. Favorite ornament theme or color? I usually change it every year but have had it red and green the last 2 years.
25. Turkey or ham on Christmas day? Both.
26. What do you want for Christmas this year? Not much - I already got my present which was a Cricut Expression and I love it!
27. Does anyone in your family dress up as Santa? Nope
28. Age you discovered who Santa was? I really do not remember at all.
29. Eggnog, hot chocolate or apple cider? One of each please! YUM!!!
30. Traditional colors or other colors? I answered this question above already.
31. Do you have an Christmas decorations on your roof? No. Because of the way our house is shaped here in the Northeast, it's too dangerous for my husband to try and put lights on - otherwise they would be on the roof for sure.
32. How does Santa get into your house? Chimney or magic key? We used the chimney theory for the kids when they were young.
33. Do you prefer gifts or gift cards? I enjoy them both and it makes me no difference. Just knowing that someone thought enough of me to give me a gift makes me feel special enough. However, on the other hand - I refuse to buy Gift cards if at all possible - I love to shop for others and put personal thoughts into each gift.
34. Favorite children's Christmas cartoon? Frosty the Snowman or Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.
Well, there you go - there's my answers. I hope that you will play along and link back here so I can come check out your answers as well.
Okay - on to the free movie tickets part of this gig! I received this information and attachments from Ilana Youngheim at American Pop Digital and she asked me if I would like to share this with my readers - how could I say no?! :) Here is what she says about the free tickets - "Both coupons allow you to catch a FREE movie during opening weekend AND get a FREE appetizer when you purchase an entrée". However, the free movie offer is only good for this weekend (opening weekend – December 11-13th) so make sure you and your readers reserve tickets ASAP!" And, they are only good for my NJ & NY readers as it is a new theatre opening in Edison, NJ.
If you are interested in going to see the latest movies at a very new and very nice theatre - please send me an email ASAP so I can send you the link to get your free tickets this weekend. The information is in Adobe format and I can't attach it here to this, so it would be much easier just to send it to you directly, if you are interested. Unfortunately, due to prior committments, I won't be able to attend this weekend. :(
Have a great day and a wonderful weekend my friends and try to stay warm! Thanks for stopping by and be sure to say hello so I will know you were here! :)
