Your Family History

Happy Tuesday my peeps! How are you?  How was your Monday?  Mine was good and thankfully, I got off a little bit earlier last night, which was nice for a change.  My body is still trying to get used to this darn time change again though and I was up until midnight last night just trying to go to sleep! *sigh*  Getting by on less than 5 hours of sleep is not a great way to start the week - that's for sure. Oh well.....

Anyway, I have started digging more into my family history again and have recently found so many new things on both sides of my family.  However, I have some stuff that I am still struggling to find out and it's driving me CRAZY! LOL  I was just curious if any of you have been researching your family history and if so, what resources you have used or do you use?

Of course, I use the Ancestry.com website, but currently only the free 14 day trial.  I don't want to pay $120-$130 for the year as I think that's way too much to pay for something that should be free or at least a much smaller nominal fee.  SO... I was curious if you can help me out and pass on more information to me of places to research by chance?  I've even started putting in my relative's names in Google and having some luck there.  Apparently, my great-great grandfather was real high up in the government of France but he and his family were ran out of the country and barely made it out with their lives.  They came to the U.S. and took on a different last name (which he happened to get from the name of his castle back in France) - but I still can't find out anything about him due to not having his first name.  Apparently, he was also a real womanizer as well - LOL

So... tell me..... do you use Ancestry.com or any other family tree website?  I am able to trace back many, many years but since all but one of my grandparents are now deceased, it's making it very difficult.  I am getting some of my stuff from my mother and her side of the family, but it's also very limited to what they know.  The funny thing is, I am telling THEM more than they are telling me - HA!

Well... I guess I'd better get off here and get ready for work.  Have a wonderful and blessed day and thanks so much for stopping by to say hello.

Lots of love and hugs,

  1. I haven't done too much genealogy stuff. But my sister was into it for a while and she did a ton. I can't recall what website she was using - I will try to find out!
