Weekend/Thanksgiving Recap - (long)

Happy Monday doll faces! Hope you had a fantastic holiday weekend and got to enjoy a lot of time with your family and friends and made a lot of new memories to cherish forever. We had a wonderful holiday weekend and a nice/quiet one as well.  It couldn't have been any better. :)  Here is the quick run down of our holiday:

*  Left work Wednesday night at the normal time and headed to meet my hubby for Mexican food and nice cold beer before the festivities began the next day

*  Thanksgiving Day I got started preparing and cooking the turkey at 6:30 that morning and went on to cook the rest of our food, along with watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and a few Christmas movies.  Here are some pictures of our delicious food that I prepared for the festivities:

Turkey in a brown paper bag - always a perfect, juicy turkey (though this year there were one two small fire mishaps in the oven while trying to get the turkey out)

Obligatory photo of hubby carving the turkey:

Homemade Paleo Cranberry Sauce - OMG YUMMY

 The "Spread"

Pioneer Woman's Sweet Potato Casserole, Sweet Corn, Paleo Gravy, Turkey:

Mrs. Schubert's rolls, mashed potatoes and green bean casserole:

The dessert - Apple Crisp, Pumpkin Cream Cheese Roll and Pumpkin Pie:

We also snapped a few pictures after lunch.  It was just me and hubby and our son and his girlfriend. This was one of the first Thanksgiving's that I can recall that my son was actually off all day - talk about a nice surprise and wonderful blessing:

After lunch and a few photos, we made our annual trip to the Airport to hand deliver Thanksgiving dinner to my husband's employees who had to work that day, along with some dessert. They were super excited and appreciated the gesture as always.  We love doing that little part every year to show our appreciation for his employees who keep things running so hubby can be home with us.  Then we curled up on the couch, watched another couple of Christmas movies and enjoyed a nice glass or two of wine

*  Friday I got up and went to work - blah   However, I was able to get some CHRISTmas cards addressed and in the mail, which made me happy, though I am still way behind on that considering that I always have ALL 75 of them out the day after Thanksgiving - ack!!!  I don't know about you, but I lurve me some Peanuts! :)

Hubby was lucky enough not to have to work on Friday so he ran a few errands and then picked me up for lunch.  After work, I ran home and then met hubby for another nice dinner and drinks.

*  Saturday morning we got up and worked around the house and ran some quick errands and then we went to our local Movie Tavern here to watch the movie, Creed.  OMG, all I can say was it was SO AWESOME and if you've not had a chance to see it yet, please GO watch it! I was very pleasantly surprised to say the least! Besides, who doesn't enjoy a nice Rocky movie, right?! And the young guy playing Creed is actually pretty HOT, so yeah, there was that! :)

Then Saturday night 12:30 a.m. our power went out again.  My husband heard a loud pop pop pop and ran outside to try and flip the breaker to see if he could get our power back on but when he did, less than 10 feet behind him, sparks started flying up out of the ground and it started smoking.  Come to find out we had a live wire underground that the people who lived here before us had apparently forgotten to deactivate the live wire and didn't even tape it off.  Needless to say we got very lucky that we didn't have a fire in our house and lucky our dogs didn't get a hold of it either.  This started at 12:30 a.m. and we had the Electric company out at 2 a.m. fixing the problem, which is how we learned of the issues that happened.  Why people think they can play electrician and do things half-way is enough to drive me bonkers.  Even though we are only renting the house, we got extremely lucky that none of us got hurt due to their carelessness.

*  Sunday we slept in and literally laid around the house watching Christmas movies and listened to the rain all afternoon while relaxing.  Enjoyed another glass or two of wine, Face timed with my new little grandson and daughter, cooked dinner and just enjoyed the rest of our night relaxing while preparing for the new week ahead, which I must admit, I am dreading completely - blah  However, we had completely forgotten to check our mail on Saturday, so hubby ran down to the corner of the road to see what was there and this surprise was in my mailbox from my baby sister, who lives in Florida - she knows I LOVE my HOGS!! :)

So that is a quick recap of my holiday weekend - how was yours? Can't wait to catch up! Thanks for stopping by to say hello and have a fabulous Monday. :)  Linking up with these pretties today:

Lots of love and hugs,
