Weekend Recap - Labor Day

Happy Tuesday lovies!  Hope you had a wonderful and safe holiday weekend.  We had a nice weekend but man, was I busy!  I am so tired that I need to go back to work just to get some rest! HA!  On Friday, I spent the first part of the day going to pick up my x-ray to take it to my Orthopaedic Surgeon's doctor visit.   Then while waiting for the time to go to the dr., I spent the rest of the morning and early afternoon shopping at places like Michaels, etc. and had a lot of fun.  It was so nice to have some wonderful quiet "me" time for a change with no kids hanging at my feet saying they were bored and ready to go home - ahhhh..... peace and quiet! :o)

Anyway, then I headed to the doctor to see what he had to say about my knee.  Unfortunately, it was not good news.  He said it appears just from the exam that I do indeed have a torn meniscus but that the tear is on both sides of my knee.  He is sending me to get an MRI on Wednesday night to get the actual picture of my knee to see what we are looking at.  If the MRI does show a tear then he will go in and do a quick 20 minute operation to clean it out.  I will keep you updated once I know the results.

On Saturday we started the day off with my daughter having an interview at our movie theatre.  Afterwards, we went to the mall for some retail therapy and she wanted her hair dyed back to her natural color but a little darker, but everyone wanted $75 to $110 just to color it and I told them NO WAY - that was WAY too much!  So, I did what any other mommy on a budget would do - I went and bought a color treatment at Target and colored her hair myself! HA!  It cost me all of $8 and it turned out great!  Take a look for yourself:

Much better - don't ya think?! :o)  She looks so much better with her natural color (though it is darker than her normal color and darker than I really wanted it to be)  She loves it though and that was well worth the $8.  I had never colored hair before and was terrified to do it for the first time - but it was SO easy that I couldn't believe it.

Later that day she received some wonderful news.  The movie theater called and offered her a position with them.  She was SO excited and is still excited.  This is her first REAL job ever.  She starts her training this week and then will work only on weekends and holidays.  I will take pictures of her when she is in her new uniform for you to all see.  The one thing about her uniform that she is really excited about is, of all things, the name tag - HA!  I have no clue why - but she can't wait to wear her own name badge!  The good news is that whenever she is working, me, my husband and our son can go watch movies for FREE! WOO HOO!!  We are such huge movie buffs and spend so much money on movies that it's ridiculous! So imagine our excitement when we learned that good news! :o)  Saturday night after the hubby and son got home from working in CT again, we decided to rent the Razorback/Tennessee Tech game on Pay Per View so we could watch our home boys play and what a game it was - we kicked some MAJOR butt!  It was a heck of a game and a way to start off the year.  Of course, the 3rd and 4th games are going to be the really tough ones so we'll see how good our boys are on those days.  Either way though we support our Hogs! ;o)

The rest of the weekend was spent working around the house, cleaning out closets, organizing my office and getting donations ready to take and drop off.  Then I was able to take time and spray paint the remainder of my yard sale finds from weeks ago.  Also, while I was at it, I went ahead and put away my summer decorations and began decorating for Fall - it was BEAUTIFUL here this weekend and we had a high of only 65 on Sunday - it was GLORIOUS weather and so perfect!  We slept with the patio deck door of our bedroom open the entire weekend and enjoyed the "free" air conditioning.  Too bad that Monday was hot and sunny and back in the 80's.  This week is also going to be hot and sunny. I cannot wait for Fall to finally arrive once and for all and get rid of these hot and humid temps.  ACK!

Anywhooo....here are some of the items I spray painted yesterday.

Thanks for stopping by to say hello and have a great day my friends!  I will have pictures tomorrow of my fall tablescape so be sure to check back at that time!  I could use some of your advice too as I still have some places that just need "something" more and would love to hear your ideas!

Lots of love and hugs

Back to School Photos - 2010

Happy Friday my peeps!  How the heck are you today?  Are you lucky enough to have today off along with me? Of course, the only reason I have today off is because it is the day that I am on my way to see the Orthopaedic Surgeon for my knee.  Hopefully, he will tell me what is going on and decide what we are going to do about it.  The pain is getting to be intolerable - especially with going up and down the stairs to work in the City.  If I didn't have to do that, it probably wouldn't be so bad.  Keep your fingers crossed for me okay? :o)

As promised, here are my "babies" on their first day of school yesterday - this was the best smile I could get out of him that early in the morning - My "little" Sophomore
Miss Priss - My "little" Junior
My babies - *tear*
And of course, I had to get in there with them too but don't let this picture fool you - She is MUCH taller than I am - I don't know how we were the same height in this picture and I looked really funny in it too - oh well.... *sigh*
I think this one was much better of me and Mike though:
The hubby was already gone to work so that's why he wasn't in any of these pictures yesterday, but I will try and get some of him with the kiddos later on. :o)

So what are your plans for this holiday weekend?  We aren't doing anything but hanging out at home and doing more home projects and I couldn't be happier!  I am hardly home anymore and I love it when I can just stay home.  My baby girl got a new job and also has a job interview for another job on Saturday, but that's about the extent of our weekend - running her here and there - LOL

Well, thanks for stopping by to say hello!  Have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend my friends.   If I don't catch you over the weekend, I will catch you on the flip side. :o)

Lots of love and hugs,

First Day of Back to School - WOOT WOOT!!

Can you hear the angels singing and see me dancing in the street?!  It is back to school day for my little (okay big) hoodlums - YAY!!!  Now, don't get me wrong - I completely think that it's insane to send kids back to school just 2 days before Labor Day and to go to school 2 days only to be out of school for another 3 days before going back again and then having another short week before starting full time - it's crazy, right - nooo... just me??? *crickets chirping*

Okay... moving on then.... I had hoped to have some first day of school pictures for you today but then I realized I won't have a chance to take pictures of them and get them posted before we all leave for the day - so instead I will post them tomorrow for you to see.  :o)

Instead, today I am going to play along in the "Thank you very much" blog carnival with Kmama at the Daily Dribbles.  So feel free to join in if you'd like.  What? You don't know what it is?  Well then... you can go here and check it out for yourself - Kmama gives excellent instructions on how you too can play along:

It's Free Therapy Day!! That's right, it's Thursday, which means it's the Thank You Very Much day. The way it works is that you take out all your frustrations on people/things that peeved you off during the week and thank them in a very sarcastic way, for being who or what they are/doing what they did.

Sooo...on with the fun...shall we?!

1.  To the school district for starting school 2 days before Labor Day - Thank you very much

2.  To the school district for allowing me to change my kid's bus stop to a safer stop - Thank you very much

3.  To my kids for going to bed on time last night in order to get a good night's rest for your first day of school - Thank you very much

4.  To the 2 Advil that I took before bed last night due to my legs bothering me - and for giving me wild, weird and scary dreams all  night (I was bitten by a snake on my butt cheeks in one of those dreams) - Thank you very much

5.  To the coffee for being ready this morning when I so desperately needed you - Thank you very much

6.  To my doctor's office for having my stuff ready and prepared for my Orthopaedic visit tomorrow - Thank you very much

7.  To today for being my Friday despite having to go to the doctor tomorrow - Thank you very much

8.  To all of you, my friends, for hanging out with me and my randomness and for your sweet, sweet comments - Thank you very much

9.  To my two kiddos for growing up on me way too fast and making me sad that you're almost adults and will fly the nest before long - Thank you very much

10.  To the 2 business places who called my daughter yesterday and both gave her a job on the same day within 30 minutes of each other - where now she has the opportunity to choose which one to take - Thank you very much

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by to say hello my sweets!  Be sure to check out my babies back to school photos tomorrow! :o)

Lots of love and hugs,
