Show Us Your Life - Kitchen Series

Happy Friday ya'll! Even though I've only worked 4 days this week due to having 2 sick babies on Sunday and Monday, it has been such a long week!  I had another late night at work last night so it wasn't until 10 p.m before I got home and in the bed and I am exhausted to say the least (I know, my life story, right?) *crickets chirping*  Anywho.... moving on...... Due to our painting and rearranging, etc. this week, and my working late, late hours - I haven't made it to the decorating stage of my kitchen for Halloween yet.  So... you are getting my pictures today at a "raw" glance - hope you don't mind.  However, after this weekend, once I have it decorated, I will include them in next week's Show Us Your Life or I will just do an entirely separate post on them - depends on how the weekend goes.  So... without further adieu -

This area isn't usually messy like this but as you can see - the kids have kind of gotten ahold of it - LOL  However, the Junior cookbook is one of my favs as my wonderful mother-in-law gave it to my daughter as a birthday gift many years ago.  It was also hers as a little girl from her mother so it is quite old and some of the pages are falling out but still a treasure I think:

Hubby's liquor cabinet:  I know after you've seen all of our wine bottles and now our "old lady" liquor cabinet you probably think we are sots - but I assure you - we're not - we just like to have things on hand when our peeps stop by for a visit!  We are social drinkers only and rarely at that - LOL

The "homemade" (actually just thrown together and tied with ribbon) valance that my mom and I put together last August.  I want to put something like "EAT" above in this area but can't figure out what to put the words on - once they are on Vinyl.  Maybe plates, wood blocks, dunno - any suggestions?

Part of my wine bottle collection.  Steven brought me home this neat wine box many years ago and I.love.it! 

My little ghost soap pump (okay so I have SOMETHING for Halloween in the kitchen at least - LOL) - it is from Bath and Bodyworks and too cute, I think!

Our kitchen "chalkboard" that I have to fix and complete still.  I didn't get it taped off real good apparently when I painted that door - *sigh*  Oh well - there are always projects around my house!   Also, see that flower picture on the right of my refrigerator?  That was painted by my daughter back many years ago and is one of my favorite treasures.  I have yet to get it "ironed" and framed but it is on some sort of canvas "paper" - not sure what kind but I *heart* it so much!

Well there is the rough tour of my kitchen currently.  I mainly went ahead and played along today to document what it looks like so when it is changed I can see the improvement.  However, this looks 10 times better than it did when we bought the house.  The walls were yellow!  The paint color on it now is "Latte" by Sherwin Williams.  It is too light for my taste but gives the rest of the house some contrast as we have dark painted walls throughout most of the rooms.  So be sure and stop by Kelly's Korner today to see the rest of the kitchens and come play along!

BULLIES!

Good morning my friends.  This is going to be a darker post than what you are used to around here.  I must preface this by saying how much I despise bullies - and especially GIRL bullies!  My daughter was "bullied" by a girl yesterday during lunch and was hit in the back very hard.  Had she been facing the girl she would have been hit in the face instead.  Luckily for her it was all caught on camera - (who knew cafeteria's have cameras now)  Anyway, as you could have guessed (or not) it all had to do with a stupid boy! (Nothing personal to my male readers). 

Here's how things went down.  My daughter just started "seeing" this guy on Tuesday night.  Apparently his ex was very angry and came into the cafeteria to start trouble.  Well, she came up behind my daughter (who was sitting with the boy) and started screaming and yelling at her and calling her names, etc.  My daughter turned around and looked at her and said she didn't say anything about her, etc.  and then turned back around.  Then my daughter asked a teacher to get this girl "off" her and away from her so he came and got her and was following her out when the girl turned and went around the cafeteria and came back and hit my daughter in the back with her fist as hard as she could.  My daughter's arm is still in a sling so it's not like she could have fought back and defended herself even if she wanted to. (the "boy" that this was all over sat there and did nothing and kept his head down on the table)  Needless to say - she's not allowed to "date" this boy for sure.

They hauled the girl to the principal's office and then my daughter to the nurse's office.  Luckily, the girl got suspended for a week over it - which made me very happy.  Someone told my daughter that she only got a 1 day Saturday suspension, but that wasn't accurate as I called and spoke directly to the principal.  Though, he couldn't tell me exactly what happened, punishment wise, over this little girl - he did say she wouldn't be bothering my daughter for the next few days.  Well, this girl (and her big mouth) got onto Facebook last night pretty much "bragging" about punching Alliye and how she got suspended for the week.

I have always felt safe sending my children to this school because it isn't like the schools I grew up in.  These kids come from all sorts of backgrounds but you would never know it in reality.  There doesn't seem to be any line drawn (so to speak) as they all dress the same (and no, they don't have uniforms) (no one cares about labels), there's no fights at the school, normally, etc.  All in all, this school has been a great experience for my kids.  Even though yesterday was not a good experience for my daughter, I was happy with the way the situation was handled from the cafeteria down to the principal's office.  Now my daughter has to watch out for the girl's "friends" since the other girl got suspended.  But, I feel confident that the principal's office is on it and like I said, there are cameras set up.  However, Alliye is no longer "seeing" this boy so there probably won't be an issue anyway. 

There is this one boy my daughter had been seeing for almost a year, and that my friends, is a story for another time.

Wednesday Words - Halloween

Good morning, and Happy Hump Day peeps!  I didn't get home from work last night until after 9:30 so I didn't get to catch up on anyone's blogs, but I promise I will ASAP!  However, here is a "sneak peek" of my Halloween Tablescape:

Unfortunately, I have yet to figure out my camera settings accurately or you would be able to tell that the saucer plate is bright orange and the "white" one underneath it is really silver. *sigh*

Wednesday Words - Halloween
