Happy Thursday all of my blogarino friends! We are finally on the downhill side of the week - YAY!!!! I have a question for all of you and could really use your help if you have the time. This Saturday afternoon we are having a dinner get-together for my husband's employees and I am trying to think of neat and cute ideas for the dessert. They already have requested and L.O.V.E the little smokies with bbq sauce and our famous cheese dip (which isn't really famous if you are from the South and know what Rotel is - LOL). Anyway, since we are in the month of Thanksgiving and Fall is in the air - I would really like to make a couple of really good, and easy "fallish" type desserts. Everyone is bringing a dish and we are providing the dessert along with the smokies and cheese dip. Sooo.. any thoughts, ideas, etc. would be greatly appreciated. And I'll tell you what... since I am begging asking for you wonderful peeps to save me - how bout I sweeten the pot and offer a gift to the two people's recipe I choose to make. The only rules are that they have to be easy, delicious and fall flavored.
SO... let the fun begin and I can't wait to see what you come up with! :o) Have a great day everyone!
Big hugs,
Trac~ :o)

I am a huge fan of cheese dip.
ReplyDeleteI am a cheese dip lover.
ReplyDeleteUm yes! I have the best recipe. My Mom makes it every year (multiple batches) starting from Thanksgiving to christmas. 7 layer bars.
ReplyDeletelayer in this order in 9 x 13 pan:
1 stick of butter
2 cups crushed graham crackers (smooshed in to a base with the butter)
1/2 package of choc chip morsels
1/2 package of butterscotch morsels
6 oz can of Condensed milk spread evenly on top
shredded coconut to taste
Chopped walnuts
Bake at 350 until coconut is golden brown and chips are melted. refrigerate 1 hour and cut into squares. YUM!!!
I should have said you have to melt the butter - duh. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteThe above sounds great! I have an easy recipe for double chocolate chip cookies. A box of store bought chocoate cake mix and a bag of chocolate chips. Mix together with 2 eggs and 1/2 cup of vegetable oil. Drop the mix on a baking sheet and cook in oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. They will appear moist...that's a good thing. Keep them stored in an airtight container with a piece of bread to keep moist. Yum!
ReplyDelete7-layer bars are to die for!!!
ReplyDeleteMy latest obsession are Chewy Pumpkin Brownies.
Take a box of brownie mix, stir in 2 cups pumpkin, bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes.
Do not add eggs, oil, and whatever else the brownies call for - just the powder mix and the pumpkin.
Ok, so I dont know how fall themed this is, but believe me, whenever I take this to a potluck or something it gets rave reviews...
ReplyDelete(I am sure it would taste equally amazing if you replaced the Reese's with Butterfinger, Snickers, Heath Bar, or and kind of candy bar.)
2 graham cracker pie crusts
8-10 Reese's peanut butter cups, refrigerated and chopped
1 (12 oz) container whipped cream, thawed (divided)
1 (8oz) cream cheese, softened
3/4 sugar
1 (3oz) pkg. instant chocolate pudding
1 (3oz) pkg. instant butterscotch pudding
3 c. milk
Place half of the chopped Reese's onto each pie crust. Whip together half the whipped cream, sugar, and softened cream cheese until nice and smooth. Spread half of the mixture over top of the Reese's on each crust. Mix together puddings and milk, and refrigerate for about 3 minutes. After it is cool, mix again for a couple seconds (to smooth it out) and put half over the cream cheese mixture on each pie. Cover (with the plastic lids that come with the pie crusts) and refrigerate for about 1 hour. Top each pie with remaining whipped cream, then sprinkle with remaining Reese's. Drizzle with caramel topping (if you have it) before serving.
Ok...if you want a dessert that will have them coming back for more and more and more...you just HAVE to make a "Honey Bun Cake"...YUMMMO!
ReplyDeleteINGREDIENTS:
1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
3/4 cup vegetable oil
4 eggs
1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
1 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
FROSTING:
2 cups confectioners' sugar
4 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
________________________________________
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine cake mix, oil, eggs and sour cream. Stir by hand approximately 50 strokes, or until most large lumps are gone. Pour half of the batter into a 9x13 inch glass baking dish that has been sprayed with Pam or Joy. Combine the brown sugar and cinnamon, and sprinkle over the batter in the cake pan. Spoon the other half of the batter into the cake pan, covering the brown sugar and cinnamon. Twirl the cake with a butter knife or icing knife until it looks like a honey bun (or whatever design you want to make).
Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Frost cake while it is still fairly hot. Serve warm.
To Make the frosting: In a small bowl, whisk together the confectioner's sugar, milk and vanilla until smooth.
TO. DIE. FOR!!!!!
